Poetry for Mother's Day
For Mother's Day , we often look for flowers, chocolates, or an original gift. But sometimes, the truest gift is a heartfelt word, a shared memory, a heartfelt thank you. One of our collaborators has created a Mother's Day gift that goes beyond objects; this poem is a way to honor her presence, her strength, her silent love.
Because no day is big enough to contain everything that Mother's Day represents.
There are gestures that don't make noise,
but they change the world.
Your hands, which have mended days
and collected my silences,
I am among them.
You made room for me
before I even knew who I was.
You gave me roots
when I dreamed of flying
and wings
when I was afraid of falling.
Nobody teaches you how to be a mother,
but you learned in your own way:
with patience, with strength,
with awake nights and smiles stolen from tiredness.
You weren't perfect,
and that's why I love you more.
Because in your imperfection
you made love real,
without conditions.
I'm looking at you today
not only as a son,
but as a human being
who recognizes the gift
of having been loved like this.
