Keep your stovetop clean
Cleaning a glass gas hob requires care to avoid scratching or damaging the surface. Here's a step-by-step guide to effective cleaning:
Materials needed:
- Microfiber cloth
- Soft sponge (non-abrasive)
- White vinegar or lemon
- Baking soda (optional)
- Gentle glass or multipurpose cleaner
- Water and vinegar sprayer
- Toothpick or soft-bristled brush (for burners)
- Specific scraper for glass ceramic (if necessary)
Procedure:
1. Turn off and let the hob cool down
Make sure the hob is completely cool before you start cleaning.
2. Remove the grates and burners
Remove the grates and burners from the hob . Soak them in hot water with a little detergent to remove grease and buildup.
3. Remove food residues
Using a soft cloth or sponge, remove any food residue or spilled liquids. If there are any stubborn stains, you can use a solution of equal parts warm water and vinegar to loosen them.
4. Cleaning the glass surface
- Mild cleaner : Use a mild glass cleaner or dish soap. Apply the cleaner to a damp cloth and gently wipe the surface.
- Vinegar : Alternatively, you can use a spray bottle with a mixture of water and white vinegar (50/50). Spray the stovetop and wipe clean with a microfiber cloth. The vinegar helps dissolve grease residue and make the glass shine.
5. Remove stubborn encrustations
- Baking soda : For particularly stubborn stains, you can make a paste with baking soda and a little water. Apply the paste to the stains, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then gently remove it with a damp sponge.
- Glass scraper : If you have very stubborn encrustations, you can use a glass-ceramic scraper. Make sure to tilt it slightly to avoid scratching the glass, and move it gently.
6. Cleaning the burners and grills
- Once the residue has been removed from the grates, rinse them well and dry them with a cloth.
- For the burners, use a toothpick or soft toothbrush to clean the holes where the gas escapes.
7. Dry the hob
Once you've cleaned everything, dry the hob surface with a microfiber cloth to avoid streaks or water stains.
8. Final polishing
If you want to give it a final polish, wipe the hob with a dry microfiber cloth to make the glass shine.
Advice:
- Avoid abrasive products : Do not use abrasive sponges, metal scouring pads or overly aggressive detergents, as they could scratch the glass.
- Regular cleaning : To avoid the build-up of hard-to-remove deposits, try to clean the hob every day after use.
- Avoid oily products : Do not use waxes or oily products that may leave residue.
By following these steps, your glass cooktop will stay clean and shiny without getting damaged!
