Collection: From Marchi G.

Giorgio De Marchi, a “mascarer” sculptor from Montegalda, Vicenza, is known for his work in the Fucinafole in Toara di Villaga, where he creates theatrical masks of great expressive impact. His career underwent a crucial evolution in 1986, when the meeting with Professor Dino Formaggio, author of Le maschere dell'uomo , marked the transition from refined craftsmanship to a true art form. Over the years, De Marchi has collaborated with leading figures such as the puppeteer Otello Sarzi, the director Maurizio Scaparro and Alain Le Bon, director of the Maison de Polichinelle in Saintes. Since 2016 he has collaborated with the actress Nora Fuser.

Specializing in the creation of masks for the theater, De Marchi breaks down and reduces the somatic features of his works - focusing on details such as eyes, nose, mouth or chin - to enhance the expressiveness of the character and adapt it to the movement of the face. The result is a balance between the ancient tradition of the mask and modern psychological concepts, which give the theater a new interpretative depth.

His masks, exhibited in Italy and abroad, especially in France and Brazil, are appreciated for their ability to arouse complex and mysterious emotions, and for their versatility in enhancing the narrative intensity of theatrical characters.
