Induzione si ma occhio alla cappa aspirante

Induction yes but watch out for the extractor hood

Enthusiasm for induction hobs is exploding like wildfire, with the Milan Furniture Fair itself confirming the popularity of this cooking method.

But what about the extractor hood ? Did you know that many of the hoods on the market aren't powerful enough to handle the extraction of induction cooking? The lack of flame, which created a drier environment around the burners, gives way to heavier vapors that require higher extraction power.

Today, the minimum extraction power required for an induction hob is estimated to be 400 m3/h. Therefore, when considering purchasing an induction hob, it's important to consider the hood, ensuring it has the appropriate power.

To ensure that the hood maintains its suction power over time, it is a good idea to follow some maintenance tips.

To properly maintain your kitchen hood, follow these steps:

External cleaning:

  • Turn off the hood and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
  • Clean the outside surface of the hood with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and neutral soap.
  • Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, which could damage the hood's finish.

Cleaning the filters:

  • Metal grease filters should be washed every 2 months, or more frequently if the kitchen is used a lot.
  • To hand wash, soak the filters in a solution of hot water and dish soap for about 30 minutes.
  • Gently scrub the filters with a soft brush to remove stubborn dirt.
  • Rinse the filters thoroughly with warm water and let them air dry completely before reinstalling them.
  • Carbon filters should be replaced every 4-6 months.

Engine maintenance:

  • The hood motor does not require regular maintenance.
  • However, it is important to occasionally clean the fans and intake grilles to remove dust and dirt.
  • To do this, use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush.

Additional tips:

  • Use a specific hood cleaning product for best results.
  • If your hood has a light, clean the bulb with a soft, dry cloth.
  • If you notice an unpleasant odor coming from your hood, you may need to replace the carbon filters.
  • If you have any problems with your hood, please consult the instruction manual or contact the manufacturer.
